NSF-61 Liners for Potable Rainwater Storage

For applications that require potable rainwater, our NSF-61 certified liner systems ensure compliance with the National Sanitation Foundation’s standards.  These liners are used in rainwater tanks designated for:

How to Collect Rainwater: The Rainwater Harvesting Process

Step 1: Rainwater Collection

Rain lands on your roof or other catchment surfaces and is directed into gutters and downspouts. This water is then channeled toward your rainwater catchment tank, which acts as the central hub of your system. Proper design of this system will maximize your rainwater conveyance and minimize potential contamination.

Step 2: Pre-Filtration

Before water enters the tank, it passes through first-flush diverters, screens, or sediment traps to remove debris. This step protects your tank, reduces maintenance, and lowers strain on any downstream treatment.

Step 3: Rainwater Storage

Once the rainwater has passed through your catchment and pre-filtration systems, it’s transported to our CorGal tank or TimberTank. Our tanks are engineered to maintain water quality, provide corrosion resistance, and ensure reliable storage in any climate. Complementing our tanks are high-performance geotextile fabrics and an extensive selection of liners designed for both potable and non-potable uses.

Step 4: Distribution & Treatment

Final steps in this process will differ based on use case, but your water can be either:

  • Pumped directly from the tank for non-potable applications such as irrigation or industrial processes.
  • Routed through a rainwater treatment system, typically UV or Reverse Osmosis, for potable water applications.

Our tanks integrate seamlessly with existing systems. If you want to utilize a municipal line, well, or an additional tank, all water can be routed into your storage tank before the filtration process.
